About Us

Lady Elizabeth Hastings is a Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School. We are a small village school situated in the heart of Ledston Village catering for children aged 4-11. Our admission number is 20 children and we currently have 131 children on role in five mixed age classes.

  • Ledston Class Reception
  • Wheler Class Year 1 and Year 2
  • Lotherton Class Year 2 and Year 3
  • Gascoigne Class Year 4 and Year 5
  • Hastings Class Year 5 and Year 6

The school has a rich history, set up and endowed by Lady Elizabeth Hastings in the 1720s. The original school was housed in Ledsham, but the increasing numbers of pupils led to a new building being built in 1975 in Ledston. We continue to use this building today. In 2010, continuing success of the school led to the bespoke designing and building of an Early Years/Key Stage 1 learning environment: The ARK.

Our school receives strong support from the church, governors, parents/carers, partnership schools and the local community. All are regularly involved in life at our school. We are very proud of our school and endeavour through our website to showcase the holistic learning opportunities offered to our children.

In 2018 we revisited our aims and values, listening to the needs and ambitions of today’s children, staff, governors and parents.

Our Vision

Learning to care because God cares.

Our Aims

To join together to:

  • prepare all children academically, personally and spiritually
  • enable each child to care, learn and thrive in an ever changing world

John 10:10 I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Our Values

Experiences to ignite Wonder - the invisible that shapes our souls, learning the essence of who we are.

High expectations achieved through Endeavour – taking on the challenge, accepting and learning from mistakes.

Co-operative partnerships to foster and nurture faith, hope and Love – absorbing and using the wisdom of others.

Mutual understanding and Trust.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
