Our school has strong links with All Saints’ Church at Ledsham, where Father Peter Townley, welcomes us at regular intervals throughout the year as we follow the liturgical year and celebrate with the Parish, significant Christian festivals and feast days. Each year, children also have the opportunity to visit Fairburn Church, Ledston Chapel, Selby Abbey and York Minster.
Ledsham Church is on Claypit Lane (LS25 5LP) near to the Chequers Inn. All Saints, Ledsham is the oldest parish church in Yorkshire still in use. Built in the Anglo-Saxon times over 1200 years ago, it stands as not only the oldest church but also the oldest building in West Yorkshire. It is generally kept unlocked between the hours of 10am and 4pm and you are welcome to visit.
Services at Ledsham are held every Sunday by Father Peter Townley.
Father Peter Townley leads Collective Worship and helps promote our faith through Messy Church. He is a regular visitor to our school and makes a point of getting to know the new parents of our Reception children each September. In the last few years we have also welcomed to our school the Archbishop of York and the Bishop of Selby.
